Real Blind‑Spot + Rear‑Approach Detection

The Garmin Catalyst R1 racing radar provides exceptional coverage, range and precision.  It continuously scans behind you and alerts you when vehicles are:

• First detected on-track behind you
• Gaining on you with an estimated indication of the distance behind you
• In your blind spot on either side attempting to overtake you

This is exactly the kind of information that’s hardest to catch with mirrors alone, especially at track speeds.

Visual Alerts with Color LED Lights

Interior‑mounted indicator lights are within your sight.

• Amber-colored left and right blind spot alerts
• Red-colored left and right rear alert lights
• Blue-colored light indicating normal operation
• While traveling above 15 mph, colors progressively change from cool colors (blue, green) when the vehicle is around 70 m (229 ft.) away to warm colors (yellow, orange, red) when the vehicle is around 9 m (29 ft.) away.
• Radar functionality may be limited in rainy/wet conditions. The indicator light turns orange when in this state.

It’s a standalone solution— no other devices or apps are required to operate on track day.

We designed the Garmin Catalyst R1 racing radar with virtually everything you need:

• Compact radar and indicator light modules
• A variety of robust mounting hardware including
  • A bare-wire power cable (installation required)
  • Surface plate mount bracket for the radar module
  • Brackets for the indicator light modules
  • Screws and adhesive options to secure the mount bracket to the rear of the vehicle
  • Zip ties for securing the installed cabling

Once installed, Garmin Catalyst R1 can power on and off with the vehicle’s ignition — no batteries or charging required.

Driver Customizable and Easy Updates

Through the Garmin Catalyst™ Radar app, you can:

• Adjust how close a vehicle must be before alerts trigger
• Tweak light brightness and behavior
• Test your wiring connection
• View alert behavior before track day
• Update the Garmin Catalyst R1 racing radar firmware

This lets you tune the system to your preferences.
